Dog Bed

We have a really sweet dog, if I haven't said already.  His Grandma bought him this really swanky dog bed.  Sealy.  Memory foam.  Well, at some point he decided that it needed a bit of freshening up every evening and he started digging at it to fluff up the memory foam.

Recently, my son's room (where the dog sleeps on his swanky bed) started smelling like a farm.  So I washed the dog bed.

I found that his nightly floofing had torn a hole in the skimpy lining they had around the memory foam bits.  So I had to go get stuff to fix it.  Then I found that the foot pedal thing for my sewing machine was missing.  So I had to order a new one.  It came in today.  Something like 5 days early.

So I am off to sew a doggy mattress.  Yay!

This really is a positive thing.  I promise!

Rings

I can wear my wedding and engagement rings!

Over the past few years I have put on some weight and that added to swelling and inflammation from health issues has prevented me from wearing my wedding rings.

Recently, my husband and kids conspired to have my rings enlarged.  They didn't check what size I am now though and so the rings still didn't quite fit.

More recently, my GI doctor took me off one of my medications which made it necessary for me to make pretty drastic changes in my diet.  The downside: no coffee, or dairy.  The upside:  weight loss.

Major benefit:  MY RINGS NOW FIT!!!!!

Squirrels

Our house feeds the birds.  You know, bird feeders of various kinds with varoius kinds of seed in them for the birds to eat.

Mostly we actually feed the squirrels.  Not on purpose.  They like the bird feed.

Some people find this almost offensive, like the squirrels know that the food is for the birds but they're such thieves and mischief makers that they steal the food.  That they KNOW is for the birds.  Dirty rotten squirrels.

Sadly, I am not of that opinion.  I think squirrels are just the darn cutest things ever.  It doesn't bother me a bit that they take the food offered up for general consumption.  Ya snooze, Ya LOOSE birdies!

Sorry

I have been having a really hard time putting a positive spin on anything lately.  Hopefully my morale will improve here soon and I can start puttin up some  "positive spin on a bad situation" posts.

IKR

Um, why do my kids say, "I know, right?"  All the time.  Is this my curse for using "Like" as every other word in the 80's?

Shirt

My new shirts are too tight.  It reminds me to suck in my belly.

The Mall

We were just at the mall on a Saturday.  I really, really detest the mall on a Saturday.  We needed dress khakis and a white shirt and tie for my son.  So the mall couldn't be avoided.

The mall on the weekdays is an entirely different animal.  Weeknights when it's not near Christmas are almost fun at the mall because it's so deserted.

Anyway.  We ate lunch there and I started remembering what the mall was like when it first opened.  Chick-fil-a was a restaurant with tables and chairs, not just a counter.  Orange Julius was across the hall from them.  There was a corn dog place.  My sister introduced me to corn dogs at the mall.  Hot Sam, I think it was called.  Garfinkles was where Borders is and Maggie Moo's was a fountain.  Sears was Montgomery Ward and the mall ended at JC Penney.  The movie theater was across from Penny's where the New Balance store is now.  The mall has been added on to twice since it first opened.  I think it's only been twice.  Maybe three times.  But I've been there since the beginning.  Third grade, baby.  When the new mall opened.  And I spent all my money at Occasions on those stuffed hanging things that had sparkly tinsel attached to them.  And when I rooted around in the couch cushions for change to go to the movies.  Because movies were only $3 when I was in Middle School.  I think, you know, they may have been $2.50.

Dinner

Spent all day cooking.  It was the best dinner I've made in a long time.  Homemade bread too.  So good!

Where I Live

Where I live is almost never quiet or peaceful.  I have kids, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

Tall

My son is going to outstrip me this year.
My daughter is probably going to be taller than me and at 11 years old is already cuter than I was at 17.  That's scary!

Acting

I had my acting debut today.  I was part of a skit to promote VBS at my church.  I survived!  And some people even said I did a good job.  YAY!

West Virginia

Went to Southern West Virginia for the first time in years Tuesday.  What memories I have.  West Virginia has a way of grabbing a part of your heart.  My uncle was admonishing us to not forget where we came from.  I didn't get it until my husband and I were driving home.  There is a pull and real sense of roots there.  Where my parents grew up, where their parents made a home and raised their families.  My mom always said we were going home when we would go to WV.  I get it now.  There are a lot of memories in West Virginia.

Rough Week

It's been a rough week.  For my husband and I both.  So we went out to dinner.  To get away from it all.  It really helped.

New Computer

So,  my computer finally bit the dust.  I may have tempted fate when I thought about or talked about how wonderful it was that it was so old and still working.  MURPHY!

We bought a shiny new laptop that is HUGE.  I will stress about how much it cost for a while, but I really do need it.  So, the positive is that we got a really great new laptop for a really great deal.

Away

My husband and I were able to get away for one night alone together.  It was a good thing.

Sick

My husband and I aren't usuallysick at the same time.  This time we were.

The good thing about that is that we got to spend a whole day snuggling together and comforting each other.  We usually don't get to do that.

Check This Out

http://chickensintheroad.com/living/a-happy-card/

OK, I read this blog almost daily.  Mainly I read it because this woman is building a farm from nothing but the land just a few hours from where my Granny lived in West Virginia.  She's also funny and she puts pictures of baby farm animals on her blog.

This post that is linked is about being positive no matter your circumstances.

Little Joys

I really can't express to you how difficult it can be for a pessimistic, jaded, sarcastic person to come up with positive posts for a blog called positive posts from a pessimist.

Oh, here's something really good.  My son made dinner tonight. While I was working out.  I strained a groin muscle.  :-)

Little Joys Four

That duvet cover in little joys two.  Love that duvet cover.

Little Joys Three

Sunsets.  This is more an overflowing well feeling than a little zing.  I love sunsets.

Little Joys Two

A kitty sleeping on the bed.  A kitty sleeping just about anywhere.  Even though cats are more accessories than actual pets when compared to dogs, a house just doesn't feel homey without one sleeping somewhere.

Series: Little Joys

On my other blog I'm doing a series on pet peeves so on this one, because it's supposed to be positive, lets do little joys.

A little joy would be the opposite of a pet peeve.  Something little that when it happens sends a zing of joy into your heart.

Here's mine for the day.

A happy, playful dog running through the kitchen swinging his Christmas present toy in his mouth.

A Really Neat Thing

I have a bunch of nieces and nephews.  I didn't get to be with all of them while they were growing up because three of them live out of state.  I did get to be around two of them regularly and two of them all the time.  So there are seven of them and they are all grown ups now.  Five of them have children of their own.  These are just my side of the family.  My husband has a nephew and a niece.  The nephew is in the same age range as my nieces and nephews and the niece is my daughter's age.

The really neat thing about having nieces and nephews is that they naturally multiply.  They meet neat people and fall in love and then those neat people are automatic nieces and nephews of mine.  I LOVE that.  I love that new people get added every so often to our ever- growing family.  I also love that they then have kids.  So I have great nieces and nephews to love.  They are really neat people too.  I just love my family.
